The ice bucket challenge has become the talk of the town. Many warm-hearted citizens accepted the nomination by their friends to take up the challenge. It is a meaningful way to arouse people’s awareness towards the ALS as they would like to experience what will happen when being an ALS patient by pouring a bucket of ice water to their body. However, there are some considerations when taking up the challenge, which make me think twice if I should participate in this activity.
First, the ice bucket challenge is not a very good choice to let people experience ALS. It is because people can only feel the excitement the challenge brings to them but not the real experience an ALS patient suffers in a serous sense, such as the increasing muscle weakness.
Second, the ice bucket challenge is dangerous to teenagers. It is because that huge amount of ice cubes are used to freeze the water. With the melting ice cubes pouring to their body, it may hurt them and trigger some potential diseases due to a sudden change of body temperature.
Finally, personally speaking, I would choose to donate money rather than to take up the ice bucket challenge when I have the chance to be nominated by my friends as it is another form to support this charitable activity.
