Have you ever asked a question that why we need to save energy and resources?
The major reason is that nearly all of Hong Kong's electrical power comes from fossil fuels, which have to be imported. Once they've been burnt, these fossil fuels are gone forever. So the more energy we use each day, the less there is left for the future.
Moreover, burning fossil fuels creates pollution, and such a growing and adverse effect will control the earth's climate. Thus, we need to save energy and resources.
To save energy at home, turn off the light if you are going to be out of the room for more than five minutes. Also, turn off the machines such as TV computers, radios and stereos, when no one is using it.
In addition, if you need to warm up or defrost small amounts of food, use a microwave instead of the stove to save energy. Moreover, do not keep the refrigerator door open any longer than you need to.
In fact, the energy-saving ideas you used at home can also be used in school. For instance, teachers can create a weekly "energy monitor" - someone in class is appointed to make sure lights are out when there's no one in a room. He or she can also make sure that machines are turned off when not being used.
Everybody has their part to play! Let's work hand in hand to reduce the amount of energy consumed. Save our world now!
